Belarus may join International Union of Notaries in October

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian notaries may access the International Union of Notaries (UINL) in October 2016, President of the International Union of Notaries Daniel Sedar Senghor told media on 28 June, BelTA has learned.

“It is early to say something for sure as the union is a big organization and requires the implementation and observance of certain accession procedures. Belarus is expected to welcome our expert commission on international cooperation that will assess the work of Belarusian notary officers. I hope that experts will be able to come to the country in July-August 2016. The commission will then present its expert report to the authorities of the International Union of Notaries. In October Paris will play host to the UINL Congress where, I hope, the final decision will be taken regarding Belarus' accession to the union,” said Daniel Sedar Senghor.

In his words, the International Union of Notaries is interested in Belarus. “It will be interesting for foreign counterparts to learn about the experience of the Belarusian notaries, exchange opinions, adopt and share some progressive novelties,” the UINL President said.

He praised a high level of the work of Belarusian notary officers. “Notary specialists who regularly enhance their qualifications are disciplined and professional in fulfilling their duties,” Daniel Sedar Senghor said.

In turn, Chairman of the Belarusian Notary Chamber Natalia Borisenko added that the Belarusian notaries have a lot to offer to the international community. “For instance, Belarusian notary officers perform execution orders. Not many countries can boast such competence of their notaries,” she said.

The International Union of Notaries is a non-government organization founded to assist, coordinate and develop notary activities worldwide. Among its members are 86 countries.
