Belarus makes flag for Association of Space Explorers

MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – A flag for the Association of Space Explorers has been made in Belarus, the Belarus 1 TV Channel reported.

The flag has been designed by cosmonauts Aleksei Leonov and Vladimir Kovalyonok. A present from Belarus, the flag will be passed on from one host country of the international congress of the Association of Space Explorers to another.

Belarus will host the Planetary Congress of the Association of Space Explorers in 2018. The decision was made by the session of the Association of Space Explorers in Toulouse, France on 27 March. The Belarusian delegation to the forum was led by two-time Hero of the Soviet Union, cosmonaut Vladimir Kovalyonok.

The decision was taken unanimously. Four countries bid for hosting the congress: Belarus, Italy, Lithuania and Ukraine. The congress is scheduled for early September 2018. It will bring together cosmonauts and astronauts from over 30 countries. The international forum will hear dozens of reports, lectures and discussions. The participants will consider the national space programs, the safety of space flights, and the future of the planet. The congress in Minsk will feature a ceremony to plant an alley of cosmonauts.

The Association of Space Explorers is an international not-for-profit organization that unites more than 400 cosmonauts and astronauts from 37 countries.
