Belarus' Liozno District, Russia's Demidov District to sign treaty of friendship

VITEBSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Liozno District of Belarus' Vitebsk Oblast and Demidov District of Russia's Smolensk Oblast are expected to sign a treaty of friendship, neighborliness and cooperation ahead of the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from Liozno District Executive Committee.

The document is to be signed on 31 March. On the day Liozno will host an official event to celebrate the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia. “We will welcome Russian guests among whom there will be heads of administrations and chairpersons of the deputy corps of the districts we have been cooperating with. These will be representatives of the Rudnya, Yelnya, Velizh districts of Smolensk Oblast and Pitelino District of Ryazan Oblast, and also heads of Demidov District with whom we are planning to sign a treaty of friendship and cooperation. Apart from its official part, the event will include a concert featuring our performers and artists from Smolensk Oblast,” representatives of the Liozno District Executive Committee said.

The similar documents have already been signed between Liozno District and Rudnya, Yelnya, Velizh and Pitelino districts. “Our contacts and practical cooperation with the Russian districts have been steadily strengthening and expanding. For instance, two agreements were concluded with Pitelino District. We started with cooperation in culture and then agreed to interact in other areas,” representatives of the Liozno District Executive Committee added.

Russian guests will be taken on a tour around the Liozno museum, the Great Patriotic War monuments, companies, organizations, and cultural establishments of the district.
