Belarus, Kazakhstan sketch out promising defense cooperation avenues

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Kazakhstan have sketched out promising avenues of military and technology cooperation for the near future, representatives of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

The Committee's Chairman Oleg Dvigalev met with Kazakh Defense and Aerospace Industry Minister Beibut Atamkulov on 29 November. It was the third meeting of the two officials this year. The sides confirmed the policy in favor of advancing mutually beneficial relations and mentioned the positive background in stepping up bilateral cooperation, in particular, military technology cooperation and military economic cooperation. Avenues to explore in the near future were sketched out as well as opportunities for localizing manufacturing in a number of areas in Belarus and Kazakhstan. Opportunities for working together to make products for third countries were mentioned as well.

The Kazakh defense and aerospace industry minister mentioned the high quality and reliability of products made by the enterprises run by the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus and by other Belarusian defense contractors. He also invited Belarusian colleagues to participate in the fifth international defense technology expo KADEX 2018. The first expo was held in Astana in 2010 and has since become an important part of military technology cooperation between Belarus and Kazakhstan. It has also become an excellent venue for demonstrating the latest defense industry accomplishments and for specialists to exchange opinions.
