Belarus, Italy to arrange contest of R&D projects

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Italy will arrange a contest of joint scientific and technological projects, the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

The committee and the Italian Research and Education Ministry intend to hold the first session of the Belarusian-Italian commission on cooperation in science and technology. The session is supposed to take place when a Belarusian delegation led by the committee's Chairman Aleksandr Shumilin visits Rome and Trieste on 11-14 December to participate in a meeting of ministers of science and research of the Central European Initiative member states.

During the session the sides intend to sign an executive program on bilateral cooperation and discuss the schedule for arranging the first contest of Belarusian-Italian R&D projects in 2020-2021. Apart from that, the sides will consider prospects of cooperation in the area of technology transfer, sales of Belarusian science-intensive and high-technology products in Italy.

The official bulletin of the Italian government's regulatory acts Gazzetta Ufficiale published the law on ratifying the Belarusian-Italian intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in science and technology on 21 October 2019. Thus, the Italian side and the Belarusian one have finished the intrastate procedures the agreement required in order to come into force.
