Belarus' Investigative Committee, U.S. FBI discuss cooperation in fighting cyber crime

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Investigative Committee and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation discussed cooperation in cyber crime investigation at a working meeting in Minsk, BelTA learned from the website of the Investigative Committee.

The two agencies examined the topical matters in the fight against international crime and some aspects of interaction in the investigation of several cyber crime cases, the Investigative Committee noted. In 2017 the Investigative Committee and the FBI shut down the international cybercrime group Andromeda.

According to the Investigative Committee, “the visit of the American colleagues shows once again the gradual development of our constructive dialogue launched in 2017 and continued in January 2018 when an Investigative Committee delegation led by Ivan Noskevich visited the USA”. As a follow-up to the existing agreements, the sides discussed the exchange of the best practices and assistance with the professional training of Belarusian investigators.

The Investigative Committee representatives expressed gratitude for the opportunity to do internships at the FBI-supported National Cyber-Forensics & Training Alliance in Pittsburgh. “The sides agreed to continue the practice of inviting Investigative Committee specialists for internships at the Alliance and consider sending Belarusian specialists for the refresher courses at the FBI Academy in Quantico,” the committee remarked.

The visit of the FBI delegations to Belarus stepped up the cooperation between the two law enforcement agencies, the Investigative Committee summarized.
