Belarus' Investigative Committee, Russian Internal Affairs Ministry sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry signed an agreement on cooperation in Novopolotsk on 18 September. The document was signed by the committee's Chairman Ivan Noskevich and Russian Internal Affairs Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus told BelTA.

The agreement provides for cooperation in such areas as organization and enforcement of international agreements in criminal law affairs, fight against organized crime in the Union State of Belarus and Russia, protection of rights and freedoms of citizens, personnel training for pretrial investigation agencies of the two countries. The sides will share information and experience, will provide assistance with pretrial investigations and cooperate in other matters.

According to Ivan Noskevich, the agreement is important for the Investigative Committee of Belarus because Russia accounts for an overwhelming majority of instructions to render international legal aid. The document will allow improving professional skills of personnel of the Investigative Committee and will improve investigation work thanks to the adoption of the positive experience, scientific and technological accomplishments of the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry.

Vladimir Kolokoltsev mentioned productive joint work of Belarusian and Russian law enforcement personnel. In his words, the agreement will advance cooperation between the two agencies to new heights.
