Belarus' Investigation Committee, Georgia's Interior Ministry to step up cooperation

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – The Investigation Committee of Belarus and the Interior Ministry of Georgia agreed to strengthen cooperation, BelTA learned from the international and legal department of the Investigation Committee of Belarus, following the working visit of the Belarusian Investigation Committee delegation led by Chairman Ivan Noskevich to Georgia.

Ivan Noskevich held a meeting with Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Mghebrishvili. The parties discussed the issues related to crime investigation, criminal and criminal procedure legislation practices, and also prospects of cooperation within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation against crime signed in 2015.

The Belarusian delegation was updated on Georgia's measures to improve criminal procedure, including the country's electronic pre-trial criminal proceedings. Belarusian representatives were shown the operation of structural and territorial divisions of the Interior Ministry of Georgia, and also the performance of the Interior Ministry Academy on training, retraining and enhancement of qualifications.

Ivan Noskevich and Giorgi Mghebrishvili signed a memorandum of understanding. The Investigation Committee expressed confidence that the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Georgia would promote mutual exchange of positive experience and support regular contacts between the law-enforcement agencies of the two countries.
