Belarus' innovation potential presented in Russian Skolkovo

SKOLKOVO, 26 October (BelTA) – Belarus' potential for innovations was presented as part of the Eurasian Week, the first expo forum of the Eurasian Economic Union, in the Russian innovation center Skolkovo on 26 October, BelTA has learned.

Valery Sadokho, Director of the National Center for Marketing and Price Studies, said that the entire range of innovative technologies already developed or being developed in Belarus were demonstrated by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the State Science and Technology Committee. The Belarusian petrochemical concern Belneftekhim presented its technologies for processing oil and for producing oil products since these technologies represent state of the art in Belarus. The Belarusian industrial giants BelAZ and Gomselmash, which products sell well abroad, presented their best vehicles and machines. Belarusian healthcare services were also presented since they are competitive on foreign markets.

“Certainly, these are not all the capabilities but we tried to demonstrate that Belarus occupies an important place not only in the Eurasian Economic Union but in a much larger territory,” said Valery Sadokho. The official said he hopes that the forum would allow demonstrating potential in the sphere of innovations and will contribute to cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union member states in cutting-edge R&D.

The Eurasian Week forum will last till 28 October. It focuses on the Eurasian Economic Union on the global innovation agenda. The business part of the forum provides for discussing practical aspects of creating and developing Eurasian technological platforms, strategies for further establishment of common markets in the union and development of manufacturing cooperation between EEU companies. The fulfillment of applied tasks in facilitating the export of high-tech products will be discussed as well. There are plans to also discuss potential and real capabilities of the Eurasian Economic Union as a player on the high-tech market.

The expo part of the Eurasian Week forum has been arranged as stands of five countries, a stand of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and a stand of the Eurasian Development Bank. The national stands showcase national leaders in the area of high technologies, startup projects in the sphere of innovations, and accomplishments of new sophisticated enterprises.
