MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – The plane with humanitarian aid for Vietnam is ready for departure, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Emergencies Minister.
The cargo has already been loaded onto the plane. The humanitarian aid comprises food, tents, warm clothes, blankets, a power plant and other things. As Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko informed earlier, the flyout is scheduled for 20 January. The cargo will be accompanied by a group of the Emergency Ministry officials led by a deputy minister.
According to the Emergencies Ministry, Vietnam needs assistance in the wake of the tropical typhoons that left more 100,000 households submerged in water. About 100 people were killed. According to the estimates of the Vietnamese government, the disaster affected more than 4.3 million people, 395,000 are in need of assistance.
The decision to provide humanitarian aid to Vietnam was made in accordance with the regulations of the Republic of Belarus on international humanitarian assistance. According to the resolution, Belarus will provide the material assets to the tune of Br327,575.48 (food, tents, mobile diesel power plant, and so on.) The Emergencies Ministry and the Transport and Communications Ministry shall secure the transportation of humanitarian aid to Vietnam.
