Belarus hopes to continue cooperation with IAEA

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – Belarus would like to continue the cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Alena Kupchyna, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the International Organizations in Vienna, said as she met with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano on 18 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alena Kupchyna presented her credentials to Yukiya Amano. The parties discussed Belarus' cooperation with the IAEA, including in matters related to the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. “Alena Kupchyna emphasized that Belarus would like to continue the substantive and practical cooperation with the Agency in all areas of its activities, including implementation of guarantees, nuclear safety and security, peaceful use of nuclear energy, and technical cooperation,” the press service said.

Alena Kupchyna thanked the Agency and Yukiya Amano for the responsive attitude to the needs of the member states that have embarked on the path towards nuclear energy.
