Belarus' Historical Archives hand over digital copies of Sobieski archive to Poland

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – The National Historical Archives of Belarus have donated digital copies of the Sobieski archive in Olawa to the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw (AGAD), director of the National Historical Archives Dmitry Yatsevich told BelTA.

“Our Polish colleagues have received 37,000 images. In turn, they sent us 42,000 images. These are digital copies of prominent Polish families: Doria-Dernalowicz, Przezdziecki, Prozor, Jelski, and Tiesenhausen,” Dmitry Yatsevich said.

This is not the first time the Belarusian and Polish archives have exchanged digital copies of archive documents as they have been cooperating for several years.

According to Dmitry Yatsevich, meetings with the Polish colleagues have taken place in Warsaw in Lublin. The sides discussed prospects of Belarus-Poland cooperation in archival management and the use of the common documentary heritage.

The Belarusian archivists have also attended some events marking the inclusion of the 1569 Act of the Union of Lublin on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.
