Belarus' Hi-Tech Park, Microsoft hold Government Industry Day

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Microsoft Corporation, Belarus' Hi-Tech Park and Communications and Informatization Ministry held a seminar in Minsk on 7 June. The event brought together Belarusian ministers and Microsoft experts, BelTA has learned.

The digital transformation of the economy was the centerpiece of discussion. The seminar resulted in a plan of action on the implementation of cutting-edge technologies in finance, transport, healthcare, education, and environmental protection.

Anton Myakishev, head of the Microsoft representative office in Belarus, emphasized that the world is changing rapidly and we live in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. “This event is a tool to tell the government officials how IT changes our lives for the better and boosts a country's economic competitiveness,” he noted.

Director of Belarus' Hi-Tech Park Vsevolod Yanchevsky and CEE Government Lead at Microsoft Evangelos Chrysafidis will meet on 8 June as part of the event. The sides are expected to review the prospects of large-scale Belarus-Microsoft cooperation in e-government and the implementation of modern technologies in traditional economic sectors.

According to Vsevolod Yanchevsky, Hi-Tech Park and Microsoft have a common goal, namely to show the Belarusian authorities the brand new technologies and promptly turn them into reality. “If we do it quickly, we win. If we linger, we lose. The interest of large IT companies in Belarus is growing fast. This is good news. And Belarus needs to take this chance,” Vsevolod Yanchevsky added.
