Belarus, Georgia drafting agreement on mutual recognition of academic qualifications

TBILISI, 23 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Georgia are drafting an agreement on mutual recognition of academic qualifications, Belarus' Education Minister Igor Karpenko told BelTA on the sidelines of the talks of the Belarusian delegation in Georgia.

In Tbilisi the two heads of state were present at the ceremony to sign the higher education cooperation program between Belarus and Georgia. The minister explained that the education ministries of the two states have been implementing a number of programs. “Today we have signed a new program and are considering a draft agreement on mutual recognition of academic qualifications,” he said.

According to Igor Karpenko, Belarus and Georgia have concluded more than 20 inter-university agreements. “We are working on the establishment of joint faculties, personnel training centers in both higher and vocational education, take part in scientific programs,” the minister said.

In his words, the two states have serious prospects for cooperation in the education sector.
