MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the decision to bestow the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature upon the Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich, BelTA learned from representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The source noted that the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the decision of the Nobel Committee to bestow the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature upon the Belarusian citizen and writer Svetlana Alexievich. “This is the first prize received by a citizen of our sovereign country. It will be part of history of development of the Belarusian nation, the society and the state,” noted representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The source continued: “Our lands are rich in talented people. We are confident that Svetlana Alexievich's Nobel Prize will not be the last high international award for outstanding accomplishments of Belarusians in the areas of science, literature, medicine and other spheres.”
