Belarus' foreign ministry, Belarusian diaspora to outline promising areas of cooperation

MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Belarusian diaspora will outline promising areas of cooperation, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media on 15 July, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs took part in the 7th World Congress of Belarusians. Vladimir Makei emphasized his positive impressions of the meeting with the delegates. They voiced many interesting, useful and constructive ideas. “We should outline the areas where we can reach quick results and the areas where we can work in the future,” he said.

The minister cited culture as an example and stressed that a lot of proposals regarding interesting image-building events were suggested during the congress. Another important area is to return cultural values to Belarus.

Vladimir Makei stated that at the meeting to discuss the priorities of Belarus' foreign policy the head of state put forward a goal to develop active cooperation with the diaspora. “We will work closely. Certain suggestions have already been made. This will bring results in the future,” the minister said.

All the proposals will be later discussed at a meeting of the consultative council on Belarusians living abroad.
