Belarus envisaged as nodal platform for large-scale projects in Eurasian region

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Belarus is becoming a nodal platform for implementing large-scale projects in the Eurasian region. Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Anatoly Sivak made the statement as he opened the Transport and Logistics expo as part of the Belarusian Transport Week on 6 October, BelTA has learned.

According to the source, this year's Belarusian Transport Week will be saturated with all kinds of business events and negotiations, which will surely bear fruit with regard to new useful contacts and partnerships of mutual interest for the state and the private sector.

Anatoly Sivak stated that Belarus is a country with a high level of transport availability. The country is becoming a nodal platform for implementing large-scale projects in the Eurasian region. The fact allows building any kinds of logistics schemes. The Transport and Communications Minister reminded that this year the Belarusian head of state backed the Chinese leader's initiative in favor of coupling development strategies of the two countries and implementing the Silk Road Economic Belt concept. “The construction of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone will be an example of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation. The park should be the key part of the concept's implementation,” explained Anatoly Sivak.

Top administrators of the transport authorities of Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland as well as representatives of the United Transport and Logistics Company also took part in the expo's opening ceremony.

The Belarusian Transport Week 2015 will end on 8 October. The forum features specialized international expos focusing on transport and logistics, logistics engineering, transport infrastructure in addition to the 9th Belarusian Transport and Logistics Congress. This year products and services of over 200 companies from Germany, Austria, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and other European countries are on display.

During the forum Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Anatoly Sivak will meet with the heads of the transport authorities of Lithuania and Latvia. Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union Umberto de Pretto and President of the United Transport and Logistics Company Piotr Baskakov will take part in events of the Belarusian Transport Week.

According to ZAO Technics and Communications, the organizer of the Belarusian Transport Week, as many as 114 organizations from eleven countries took part in the Transport and Logistics expo and the Logistics Engineering expo in 2014. Transport and logistics hubs, manufacturers and dealers of automobiles, logistics hub equipment vendors, insurance companies, sea port administrations and railway operators from CIS and non-CIS states took part in the expos. Apart from stands dedicated to individual companies the expos featured a national stand of Latvia and a combined stand of the Klaipeda port and port companies. Products and services of eight companies from Poland were displayed with a combined stand.
