Belarus, China to set up research center to develop means of protection against emergencies

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) - Belarus and China will set up a research center to develop modern means of protection against emergencies, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Stanislav Zas said during a meeting between the senior officials of Belarus' President Administration and the Chinese delegation headed by Zhao Leji, the member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, BelTA has learned.

“We have laid good groundwork we need to develop, including the project to set up a joint research center for the development of modern means of protection against emergencies. We have reached the stage of taking practical steps on this project,” Stanislav Zas said.

In March 2018 China set up the Ministry of Emergency Management. Belarus drafted a ministerial agreement on cooperation and submitted it for approval to Beijing. “We would like to avoid any delays in developing cooperation in the area,” the state secretary said.

Stanislav Zas also hailed successful cooperation between the two states in the military technical sector. Specialists of the two countries have sufficient experience of close cooperation. For instance, the states jointly developed samples of rocket technology and satellite communication systems.

“We believe it will be very useful and effective for us to combine the capabilities of our military-industrial complexes for the joint development of samples of armament and technology and their joint promotion on the market,” he said.
