Belarus. Chernobyl: 30 Years On exhibition opens in Gomel

GOMEL, 25 April (BelTA) – The exhibition entitled Belarus. Chernobyl: 30 Years On opened in the Gomel Palace of Rumyantsevs-Paskeviches on 25 April, BelTA learnt from director of the palace museum Oksana Toropova.

The exposition will feature photos, items and documents from the funds of the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble, the National History Museum of Belarus, the National Archives. Among them are photos of BelTA photo correspondent Sergei Kholodilin who has been developing his chronicle of post-Chernobyl events.

The exhibits will tell about the difficulties the country faced after the Chernobyl disaster, its efforts to mitigate the impact of the accident on people's health, its experience in dealing with such catastrophes.

Thanks to the assistance and support of the Chernobyl Department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, the exhibition showcases the activity of the Gomel Oblast companies and research institutions.
