Belarus calls for looking for ‘dormant norms' in CSTO legislation

MOSCOW, 28 December (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia, Belarus' plenipotentiary representative to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Igor Petrishenko has suggested looking for “dormant norms” in the CSTO legislation. The initiative was put forward during the session of the CSTO Permanent Council in Moscow on 28 December, the press service of the embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA.

The dormant norms are viewed as ineffective legal mechanisms, which should be detected for the sake of improving the effectiveness of the practical implementation of the legislation and other decisions made by the CSTO.

Igor Petrishenko also raised the matter of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's presence in the English-speaking part of the World Wide Web and in popular social networks.

Belarus also took part in discussing the draft roadmap, which is designed to enable conditions for using the peacekeeping potential of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to the benefit of peacemaking efforts of the United Nations Organization.

Igor Petrishenko surrendered his authority as the chairman of the CSTO Permanent Council to Kazakhstan's plenipotentiary representative to the CSTO Zhanybek Imanaliyev.
