Belarus, Azerbaijan sign new cooperation agreement in legal matters

BAKU, 22 September (BelTA-AZERTAC) – The Justice Ministries of Belarus and Azerbaijan signed a new cooperation agreement during a visit of a Belarusian delegation led by Justice Minister Oleg Slizhevsky to Baku.

Oleg Slizhevsky and his Azerbaijan counterpart Fikrat Mammadov discussed the reforms in the justice system of the two countries, and highlighted the prospects for expanding cooperation, exchanging opinions and sharing the best practices.

Under the new agreement, the Justice Ministries will cooperate in electronic justice, training of justice and notary service workers, execution of court decisions, mediation and other areas. The sides will also share information on the legal systems of Belarus and Azerbaijan and hold events on legal matters. The ministers expressed confidence that the cooperation in different fields will be intensified thanks to this document.

According to spokeswoman for the Belarusian Justice Ministry Olga Murashkovskaya, the signing of the agreement demonstrates a high level of interstate and interagency cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan.

The agreement will replace the existing cooperation agreement between the Justice Ministries of 13 May 1999.
