MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Azerbaijani citizens living in Belarus will be able to cast their vote in the 26 September referendum at the polling station at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Minsk, BelTA learned from the embassy.
The embassy invites Azerbaijani nationals to visit the polling station from 8 a.m. till 7 p.m. local time on 26 September and express their will regarding the referendum proposals. Only people aged 18 and over will be eligible to cast their vote, on presentation of a passport or other ID.
The 26 September referendum suggests a number of amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan. These include, among others, to extend the presidential term from five to seven years, establish the positions of the first vice-president and vice-president, and abolish the minimum age requirement (35) for potential presidential candidates.
