Approximation of laws of Belarus, Russia to be discussed in Brest

BREST, 18 June (BelTA) – The 54th session of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Brest on 18 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Union State parliament.

The session will focus on implementation of the recommendations “Approximation of laws of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on securing equal rights of the Union State citizens” made during the parliamentary hearings that took place in Bryansk on 16 December 2017. The Union State MPs will discuss ways to harmonize the laws of the two countries in maintaining equal rights of economic operators and review the progress made in establishing the common sci-tech space of the Union Sate.

Taking part in the session will be representatives of the Federal Assembly of Russia and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. Invitations were sent to representatives of the Union State Standing Committee and observers of the Parliamentary Assembly. Attending the session for the first time will be members of the Youth Chamber of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly. The decision to set up the Youth Chamber was made at the previous session in Bryansk.

“The Parliamentary Assembly members together with representatives of the Youth Chamber will discuss the tasks and priorities of joint action aimed to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between young people of Belarus and Russia, as well as collaboration in promoting rights and legal interests of the youth,” the press service added.

The MPs are set to tour the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex and lay flowers at the Eternal Flame.
