90 inspections held at BelNPP in 2017

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Ninety inspections were held at the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) in 2017, BelTA learned after the board meeting of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor).

Head of the department Olga Lugovskaya noted in her report that in 2017 the Gosatomnadzor fulfilled its functions in full, including the licensing and supervision of activities in the area of nuclear power facilities and ionizing radiation sources (IRS). As of the end of 2017, about 1,450 organizations, which use about 22,400 IRS, were supervised.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant remains the most important facility under supervision. In 2017, the regime of permanent supervision at the construction site of the plant was fully implemented, the Gosatomnadzor noted. 90 inspections, including two comprehensive inspections, were carried out. 25 testing and acceptance inspections were held on the equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant at the manufacturing plants of Russia and Germany. The focus was placed on the evaluation of the existing quality management systems of the organizations that perform works at the construction site of the Belarusian NPP, their compliance with licensing requirements and conditions.
