6.4-magnitude earthquake in Sukabumi, tremors felt In Jakarta

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) website, the epicentre of the earthquake was at 7.21 south latitude, about 81 km southwest of Lebak Banten and took place at about 1.34 pm.

The earthquake also caused tremors in the capital city of Jakarta and people panicked rushing out of the building.

At Wisma Antara, which houses the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Bureau office on the 16th floor, the tremors could also be felt and all the staff were ordered to gather outside the building before being allowed to re-enter it at 2.15 pm.

BMKG said no tsunami threats have been issued following the earthquake in Sukabumi and so far no detailed information had been received on any damages and loss of lives due to the earthquake..
