100 Ideas for Belarus projects to be displayed at Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Moscow

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) - The best projects of the 100 Ideas for Belarus contest will be presented at the fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Moscow, Andrei Belyakov, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union, member of the Council of the Republic, told the media on 29 April, BelTA has learned.

On 29 April the National Academy of Sciences and the BNTU Technopark Polytechnic hosted an interactive exhibition of the best innovative projects and R&D achievements of the winners of the regional and Minsk city rounds of 100 ideas for Belarus contest. “We will present the best projects at the fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia,” Andrei Belyakov said.

He noted that the contest is growing into a movement and has gone beyond the borders of Belarus. Now it is held in the format “100 Ideas for the CIS”. “The support of the contest is considered at the level of the CIS Executive Committee,” he added.

“The contest shows how talented Belarusian youth is. We are proud of the victories of our young people, their initiatives,” Andrei Belyakov said.

Andrei Belyakov stressed that this year the final is held in the run-up to the Labor Day and Victory Day, which was the request of the contestants themselves. They understand that their scientific achievements would have been impossible but for the great victory in 1945. This is why the war veterans have been invited to attend the opening ceremony of the final. One of the attributes of the Victory Day celebrations is a composition featuring apple tree colors and red-green ribbons, the symbols of the Flowers of Great Victory, another project of the BRSM Youth Union.

As BelTA reported earlier, over 2,000 people applied for the contest. The panel of experts will select ten winners in main nominations. The projects will be presented in the format of a startup competition throughout the day. The winners will be awarded grants worth 40 tariff rates. The grants are traditionally provided by the Belarusian Innovation Fund to help the winners work out business plans. In addition, the winners will be able to represent Belarus at the international youth contest “100 ideas for the CIS 2018”. Irrespective of the judges' decision, every finalist can compete for a grant worth Br11,500 to develop his project. The grant will be awarded by Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus Company, official partner of the 100 Ideas for Belarus contest.

An open dialogue “Science of the young is science of the future” is the highlight of the national final. The discussion is held in Belarus' National Academy of Sciences and gathers around 400 experts, participants of the 100 Ideas for Belarus contest, and young scientists of the NASB.

The organizers plan to announce the results of the contest and hold the award ceremony during the closing ceremony of the exhibition.
