Venezuela invites Belarus to partake in its post-oil economy development plan

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Venezuela wants Belarus to take part in its plan to develop post-oil economy, Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro said during the talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 5 October, BelTA has learned.

“The members of our delegation and I are happy to be here because we know that we are with true friends,” the Venezuelan president emphasized. “We have gone through the time of brutal battles, but because of them we have been strengthened on all fronts. Now we are in the process of restoration, and this is a very complicated period as well. We are making the first steps in the economic dimension. We have called it the program of Bolivarian development, this is the so-called post-oil economy. We must develop the legacy of our country and determine concrete priorities of our joint activities, the activities of Belarus and Venezuela, as part of this work.”

According to Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela admires the responsibility and diligence of Belarusian people. “We have made serious progress at the first stage. Now we want to restore everything. We want to restore that level of cooperation in a step-by-step and calm manner. We have arrived with a hope to do it,” the Venezuelan leader added.

He also thanked the Belarusian side for its solidarity with Venezuela.
