MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) - Eight professors and rectors of the Belarusian universities have been honored with state awards. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed the corresponding decree, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.
In recognition of many-year fruitful work, big achievements in the professional activity, considerable personal contribution to training of highly qualified specialists the Francysk Skaryna Order was conferred on Viktor Tarantei, the Head of the Pedagogy And Social Work Chair at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
Medal for Labor Merits was awarded to Rector of the Maksim Tank Belarusian State Teachers' Training University Alexander Zhuk, Head of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Chair at the Gomel State Medical University Valentina Latysheva, Dean of the Department of Information Technology and Management of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics Leonid Shilin.
Among the Francysk Skaryna Medal awardees were Dean of the Engineering Systems and Environment Department of the Brest State Technical University Alexander Volchek, Dean of the Department of History, Communications and Tourism of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Alexander Nechukhrin, Head of the Belarusian and World Literature Chair of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts Vera Prokoptsova, Professor of the Department of Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation of the Brest State Technical University Vitaly Severyanin.
Alexander Lukashenko also signed a decree to express official thanks to a number of professors and students of higher education establishments.
