School student shows self-assembled 3D printer to Belarus president

MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – A school student demonstrated the 3D printer he had personally assembled to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 26 May, BelTA has learned. Danila Yeliseyev is a student at Minsk gymnasium No.6. His 3D printer was showcased as part of the exhibition held in Minsk secondary school No.61 to highlight accomplishments of the children and youth movement Leadership Guidelines as the Formula for Success.

According to the teenager, it is an economy-class 3D printer, which costs about $250, yet its performance is on par with that of expensive commercial-grade products. Danila Yeliseyev assembled the 3D printer at home and has already made arrangements for acquiring the necessary parts to assemble more 3D printers. In his words, there is demand for the product.

Alexander Lukashenko asked the nine-year form student whether he can make more advanced models that can print using different materials and several colors. The gymnasium student admitted he was working on it.

Alexander Lukashenko said: “What kind of state support would you like to get? It is necessary to find out what he needs and help him.” The head of state promised that the young constructor will get support if he teaches other people how to make such 3D printers. “Don't be shy. Tell us what you need. And we will say what we can do,” added Alexander Lukashenko.

During the tour of the exhibition school students from various parts of Belarus informed the head of state about the projects, which are being implemented in their schools and gymnasiums. They also demonstrated their own R&D products and inventions.

Alexander Lukashenko also visited the school's statehood museum. The president gave instructions to present a Slutsk sash to the school for the sake of expanding the collection. A picture of the head of state with students was taken upon request of the school students.
