CAIRO, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt will work out a roadmap document to advance bilateral cooperation across the board. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement for mass media after negotiations with Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on 15 January, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko said: “The president and I have agreed that members of the Belarus-Egypt intergovernmental commission will gather in Minsk soon in order to work out an action plan, a roadmap for the future. After that a report will be presented before the president of Egypt and he will decide on going to Belarus in order to get a close and personal look at Belarus' capabilities in cooperation areas of interest together with specialists.”
The head of state stressed that there are no topics Belarus and Egypt would rather not discuss. “We are completely open. We have experience and potential. We have multiplied it and have built it up and are always ready to share with our friends,” noted the Belarus President.
Addressing Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the Belarus President stressed that the Egyptian nation is lucky because “a true and manly person has become the president in Egypt.” “It is necessary to do everything to implement his policies, to protect and preserve the Egyptian nation. In order to reach the goal, you can count on Belarus. We will always be with you. We are ready to shoulder your burdens. If we strike a deal, we will never fail you. It is a distinguishing trait of our country's behavior in the international scene,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “We have always been concrete and obliging people. We will put together the roadmap and the action plan and will definitely implement them.”
During expanded-participation talks on 15 January the heads of state discussed ways to step up cooperation in trade, defense, production of agricultural machines, civil engineering, infrastructure development, science, logistics, wastewater treatment, and rational use of natural resources.
As a result of the meeting ten documents were signed to advance cooperation in culture, agriculture, military and technical affairs, legal affairs, environmental protection, and other areas.
