LYASKOVICHI, 26 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Ukraine should cherish their friendship like the apple of an eye, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko said at the meeting with the residents of Lyaskovichi on 26 April, BelTA informs.
Petro Poroshenko remarked that Belarus and Ukraine are connected by trustworthy and good-neighborly relations, and the countries should “cherish this friendship like the apple of an eye”. The states are taking important steps for the development of cooperation in various fields. For example, Ukraine is interested in the Belarusian experience of improving social standards in rural areas.
The Ukrainian leader spoke about the agreements in the energy sector, coordination of efforts on the markets of third countries. Besides, on 26 April the presidents agreed to simplify mutual trips of Belarusian and Ukrainian citizens. “The border should be the symbol of friendship, peace, and partnership relations between our countries,” Petro Poroshenko stressed.
The president of Ukraine emphasized that Ukrainians and Belarusians together with partners were doing their best to overcome Chernobyl consequences. In his words, today Belarus and Ukraine demonstrate resolute steps to restore the Polesye region.
