Order of Mother conferred on over 8,600 Belarusian women with many children

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – The Order of Mother has been conferred on 8,619 Belarusian women for giving birth to and bringing up five and more children, BelTA learned from the State Awards Department of the Main Personnel Policy Department at the Belarus President Administration.

This year the Order of Mother has been bestowed upon 93 women from various regions of Belarus.

This award was instituted by the Decree of the President of Belarus in 1995. In accordance with the decree, starting from 2006 the recipients of the Order of Mother have been entitled to a lump-sum cash payment in the amount of the fivefold minimum subsistence wage (the minimum subsistence wage makes up Br180.1 starting from February 2017). Payments are made from the national budget. In addition, the regional authorities offer additional stimuli for the recipients of the Order of Mother.

Starting from September 2012 the women who have given birth to and raised nine and more children and who have been awarded one of the state awards of the USSR or the Republic of Belarus such as the Order of Mother, the Medal for Motherhood, the Order of Maternal Glory, the Order “Mother, the Heroine” have been entitled to the pension for special merits.
