Official welcome ceremony for Belarus president takes place in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, 12 September (BelTA) – An official welcome ceremony for Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko took place in the presidential palace Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, BelTA has learned.

The car of the president entered through the central gates. Alexander Lukashenko proceeded to the place of the meeting with India President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a mounted escort. There was a ceremonial salute in honor of the Belarusian leader.

At the ceremony with the participation of the guards of honor the national anthems of the two countries were performed and members of the delegations welcomed.

“I am very glad to visit this ancient and sacred land for the third time. Since Soviet times, we have maintained long-standing friendly ties. And today our relations rely on the fact that hundreds of Indian people get excellent European education and return to their homeland strengthen it, make it independent and sovereign. We can propose a lot of things to the leadership of India with whom we maintain very friendly relations. I am convinced that we will find our place in this huge and prosperous country with a great potential,” the Belarusian president said at the ceremony.

The presidential palace in New Delhi hosts ceremonial meetings. It was built in 1929.
