MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Plans have been made to give more freedom to oblast executive committees in the management of local budgets. This issue was discussed at the session hosted by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 21 November to discuss the economic performance in 2017 and the draft social and economic development forecast for 2018, BelTA informs.

“Let them manage their budgets and take the responsibility for it. We have determined the principles of drawing up local budgets, they have agreed,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president remarked that local authorities know better what enterprises to support first and how to do it. “If someone lacks something there is only one approach: governors and oblast councils should form and distribute the oblast budgets. And the State Control Committee will monitor the situation,” the head of state added.
