Maksim Yermolovich appointed Belarus' Finance Minister

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko appointed Maxim Yermolovich Finance Minister, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that there are many issues in the financial sector that need to be addressed, including in cooperation with Russia and other countries.

“The National Bank is an organization that must work in line with government policy. The government works to fulfill the projections, the plans which are approved by the president and which are suggested including by the finance ministry,” he said.

Maksim Yermolovich was born in the town of Lepel on 26 June 1977. He graduated from the Polotsk State University and the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

In 1999 he worked as a state tax inspector for Frunzensky District of Minsk. From July 1999 to 2002 Maksim Yermolovich held different posts in the State Tax Committee of Belarus (currently the Tax and Duties Ministry).

In 2002 he joined the Finance Ministry of Belarus as an adviser with the budget revenue planning and analysis department. He later worked as deputy head of the department, head of the budget revenue planning office at the main department for tax policy and budget revenue, and head of the main department for budget policy.

In 2011-2014 Maksim Yermolovich served as Belarus' Deputy Finance Minister. Since 2014 he has been First Deputy Finance Minister.
