Lukashenko wants Belarusian sport to be more transparent

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) - Belarusian sport should be more transparent, President of Belarus, President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko said as he spoke at the NOC Olympic Assembly, BelTA has learned.

“We should understand that ‘every doping stone in our garden' should no longer be seen as an isolated case. They are trying to fit everything into a system, like they did with Russia. We should be smarter, more transparent so that no one could impugn out integrity,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president noted that the fight against doping gets more attention in the world. The international sport has been reeling from doping scandals. “Unfortunately, we have had these problems affect us as well. Some fuss about drugs, meldonium, stripping Belarusian athletes of Beijing and London medals have hurt our credibility. Here we need a clear, well-planned work to prevent this evil,” the head of state noted.
