Lukashenko urges to improve military pension coverage

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – It is essential to solve the problem regarding the pensionable service of the military, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the session held on 10 March to discuss the performance of law enforcement agencies in 2016 and the optimization of law enforcement and judicial systems, BelTA has learned.

“It is needed to consider the issue of the so-called pensionable service of the military. It is wrong when the military service record is not included in the pensionable service period used for the calculation of labor pensions,” Alexander Lukashenko believes.

As a result, a soldier dismissed from service without a military pension with a military service record of 10, 15 or even more years should work another 20 years to get a labor pension. “This situation is especially unfair in relation to the military dismissed from service for reasons beyond his or her control,” the President emphasized.
