Lukashenko urges scientists to step up efforts to popularize Belarus worldwide

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko encouraged scientists to step up efforts to popularize Belarus worldwide at the 2nd Congress of Scientists of Belarus on 13 December, BelTA learned.

“When I was telling people something about Belarus they were all ears. They are not well aware of our reality. Why is it so? Because we should step up efforts to inform them. Scientists as well. For example, Russian scientists are great people. While working with scientists, we will inform them about what is going on in Belarus. This also pertains to Ukraine and other neighboring countries,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president stressed that it is needed to stand up against various activists who reproach the Belarusian authorities for allegedly wrong decisions. “Why I am criticized? For instance, for the soft Belarusization in Belarus. But is there anything wrong? This is not even an opinion of Russian people and the Russian government. These are certain figures and ordered fudge as the Russian president told me in Minsk. While working in Russia, you should inform Russians about what is going on here because they need to be aware of the situation in the neighboring country,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko said that he had listened to the speech of the representative of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. “This is a smart person with similar ideas. You should work with her. She will say that Belarus is not a hostile country, we are not going to attack anyone, and we have never attacked anyone. But if someone tries to attack us, we will strike back. Everything is so simple, but we should step up efforts to popularize Belarus,” the president is convinced.
