Lukashenko urges focus on farm equipment quality

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave instructions to compare the number of times Belarusian-made agricultural vehicles break down with the incidence of malfunction in the best foreign farm machines as he spoke at the nationwide teleconference held on 2 August to discuss the 2017 harvest campaign, BelTA has learned.

Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko reported that the year 2016 and the first half of 2017 saw a decrease in the incidence of deficiencies in Belarusian-made vehicles that are still under guarantee or already in the post-guarantee period. Vladimir Semashko also noted that the task to ensure there are enough farm machines for this year's harvest campaign has been fulfilled. The country has manufactured a sufficient number of grain and fodder harvesters, however, not all of the vehicles have yet been paid for. “Therefore, this is the fault of the agricultural enterprises and the regions. They should pay for the machines,” Vladimir Semashko added.

Alexander Lukashenko instructed the Interior Ministry and the State Control Committee to report on the incidence of breakdowns in the machinery that is under guarantee starting from 1 August.

The Belarusian head of state also set a task to compare the frequency of malfunction in Belarusian vehicles and products of the world's most recognized brands.

Besides, Alexander Lukashenko said all the farm machines that have been ordered by Belarusian agricultural enterprises and already manufactured should be delivered to these enterprises regardless of whether they have been paid for or not. “It is no use keeping the vehicles stored in warehouses. If they have no money today, they will have it tomorrow, and tomorrow they will not need the harvesters anymore. The machines should be delivered to the farms as soon as possible. The governors and the prime minister will make sure the vehicles are paid for,” the Belarusian leader said.”
