Lukashenko to inspect urban improvement progress in 2018

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is going to visit 20-30 Belarusian towns to inspect the progress in their improvement and beautification in 2018. He made the statement at the nationwide seminar to discuss the improvement and development of the Belarusian housing and utility sector on 20 October, BelTA informs.

The head of state said that urban improvement and beautification will be in the center of attention in 2018. “It is needed to determine 20-30 such towns, and I am going to visit them. All of us should visit them,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “It is a must to beautify towns and villages. You are living there, your people and children are living there.”

The president explained his requirements to the beautification process. In particular, he spoke about the planting of trees along roads. In his words, it is essential to plant trees not only to beautify towns but also to ensure the rational use of resources.

Alexander Lukashenko added that the beautification of towns is also needed to improve the image of the country. “Cleanness and order are number one priorities. I will no longer try to convince you, I urge you to begin this work immediately,” he stressed.

According to the head of state, it is also important to get rid of old Soviet norms regulating the space between newly planted trees. “Governors, and even the chairmen of town halls, district executive committees should determined these norms and put everything in order.”
