Lukashenko to hold talks with Sudan President

KHARTOUM, 17 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is set to meet with Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir on 17 January, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of state and members of the official delegation arrived in Khartoum on 16 January. The leaders of the two countries are expected to discuss prospects and the main avenues for advancing Belarusian-Sudanese relations, outline concrete steps to broaden cooperation. Close attention will be focused on matters of economic cooperation.

There are plans to sign agreements on advancing cooperation in various areas, including the one on friendly relations and cooperation between Belarus and Sudan.

The Belarusian head of state is also expected to meet with Sudan Vice President Hassabu Mohamed Abdalrahman and Speaker of the National Assembly of Sudan Ibrahim Ahmed Omer.

A Belarusian-Sudanese business forum will be held in the capital city of Sudan as part of Alexander Lukashenko's visit. The program of the forum will include the presentation of Sudan's investment potential, prospects of industrial cooperation with Sudanese companies. The forum will also highlight cooperation in Sudan's oil industry, agrarian sector. Doing business conditions for Sudanese companies in Belarus will be considered as well.

A number of documents between Belarusian and Sudanese companies will be signed at the forum.
