Lukashenko to attend Belarus-Egypt business forum opening ceremony

CAIRO, 16 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to take part in the opening ceremony of the Belarusian-Egyptian business forum in Cairo on 16 January, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of state is also set to meet with Egypt's Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Egypt Ali Abdel Aal.

On 15 January Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The two leaders agreed to advance trade and economic ties, increase Belarus' exports, taking into account Egypt's needs, and establish bilateral production cooperation with the use of Belarusian technologies and experience. The parties also reached an agreement to develop a cooperation roadmap.

After the official events in Cairo the Belarus President will travel to Sudan. In Khartoum, Alexander Lukashenko will hold talks with Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, Sudanese Vice President Hassabo Mohammed Abdel Rahman and Speaker of the National Assembly of Sudan Ibrahim Ahmed Omer.

The parties will discuss prospects and major areas of the Belarusian-Sudanese relations, outline concrete steps to expand them. Special attention will be drawn to economic cooperation. The sides are expected to sign a number of agreements on bolstering interaction in various fields.
