Lukashenko: Science should be a backbone of state ideology

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – In young rapidly developing countries such as Belarus, science should serve as a backbone of the state ideology, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he presented doctor of sciences diplomas and professor certificates to scientists and lecturers on 26 January, BelTA has learned.

“We need a fact-based unbiased opinion from competent specialists. It is of great importance especially today when we see the attempts to question the sovereignty and independence of our state,” the head of state said.

The President mentioned that there are people among those present at the meeting whose inventions have already been introduced into production and bring high results in a variety of important spheres of life of the society.

“The presence of young scientists means that we have multiple opportunities for achieving success in any age. The only things they need are diligence and talent,” the head of state said.

Addressing the scientists, the President stressed: “You all have already showed your worthiness and merit commendation. Continue creating, inventing. If you get a competitive product, you can count on my and the government's full support. Let recognition be a stimulus for new scientific achievements, especially in our Belarus, the country which has a well-developed and permanently improving system of state support for scientists.”
