MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – The Rio Olympics will be remembered for the unprecedented number of doping and corruption scandals, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his remarks at the 45th session of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) on 21 October, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that the Olympic and Paralympic Games ended in Rio de Janeiro not long ago.
“However, they will not be remembered for stunning ceremonies, exciting competitions, victories and defeats. We will remember them for the unprecedented number of doping, corruption and political scandals. That spoiled the celebration and hurt the athletes,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
