Lukashenko, Poroshenko to visit Chernobyl nuclear power plant, hold talks in Belarus 26 April

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will take part in the events to mark the anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on 26 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The Belarusian head of state and his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko will visit the nuclear power plant and nearby facilities. Primary attention will be focused on the efforts to maintain the radiation security level which is in direct interests of the residents of the two countries. The presidents are expected to inspect the construction site of the future protective shelter and the storage of nuclear waste, honor the memory of the liquidators and victims of the accident.

On the same day, Alexander Lukashenko and Petro Poroshenko will hold talks in Belarus. The two heads of state will discuss a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, first of all, in the trade and economic area, and also political relations, the international agenda and further efforts aimed at the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the southeast of Ukraine.
