Lukashenko plans to hold extended NOC sessions on quarterly basis

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – Belarus President, President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko plans to hold extended sessions of the NOC Executive Committee on a quarterly basis. He made the statement at the Olympic Assembly on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

“I have decided and I promise that extended sessions of the NOC Executive Committee under the auspices of the president will take place every three months,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

Apart from that, the president will take part in the annual final meeting of the National Olympic Committee. It will focus on the most topical and urgent issues. One of them is money spending. “We will take it under strict control,” the head of state emphasized. “If it is needed to help a federation, we will do it. If it is needed to support an athlete in a difficult situation, we will do it. We will support even former athletes. This is our sports family, and we must support it.”

During the assembly Alexander Lukashenko was informed that there are $85,000 and about $3 million on the current and deposit accounts of the NOC respectively. The president gave an instruction to use these funds, first of all, for the development of children's sport.
