Lukashenko orders to revise school start time

MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – School start time in Belarus should be revised, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when making personnel decisions on 12 May, BelTA has learned.

“School start times should be changed. It is no use starting lessons before 9am,” the President said.

The Belarusian head of state noted that some parents are against the decision. Parents should be concerned, first of all, about the health of their children and how well they fare in school,” the president stressed. “We need to change the situation here, especially in rural areas. Children have to get up at 6am in order to get to school in time. Is it normal? An adult has difficulties with waking up at 6am,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“We need to make progress in what concerns our education. We have already introduced some changes regarding entrance exams. We need to do more,” the president said.
