Lukashenko meets with Supreme Court Chairman Valentin Sukalo

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – On 3 May Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko heard out a report of Supreme Court Chairman Valentin Sukalo, BelTA has learned.

The meeting focused on a number of issues concerning the operation of the incorporated court system. In particular, the participants of the meeting discussed the relocation of a number of judges using the internal reserves of the court system. The President was informed that the work load in economic courts has increased and is now much higher than in general jurisdiction courts. In this context, a proposal was made to transfer part of general jurisdiction judges to economic courts. Since this issue is supervised by the president, he gave an instruction to prepare a corresponding legal act regarding the transfer of a number of judges.

Besides, the participants discussed such issues as the construction of a new building of the Supreme Court, its financing, and the preparation of corresponding documents taking into account the efforts to minimize project costs.

The meeting also focused in the efficiency of preliminary investigation into a number of cases monitored by the president.
