Lukashenko meets with representatives of China's CITIC Group

MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko met with the representative of the China's CITIC Group on 8 May. Its delegation led by China's CITIC Group President Wang Jiong is in Belarus on a visit on 7-10 May, BelTA has learned.

“I want to thank you for the projects that you are implementing in Belarus. It is good that we have advanced from simple crediting in various fields to direct investments in certain objects,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “Taking into account the projects that you are implementing here, we can say that you are frequent guests in Belarus.”

According to the head of state, it shows that China and Belarus are ready to work together and develop cooperation. “”You cannot only count on us but also believe that the objects that you have been building here will always remain in the ownership of Chinese companies and your Belarusian partners. We have guaranteed and will always guarantee your ownership of this objects in Belarus,” Alexander Lukashenko assured.

The president also remarked that the meeting with the delegation of CITIC Group is special because it is held in the run-up to Victory Day. “I know that you revere the victory of the Chinese people over imperialism. You value the results of World War II and the contribution of the Soviet Union to defeating Nazism,” the Belarusian leader added.

“As long as the one and a half billion strong Chinese nation remembers about the Victory, no one will be able to turn a blind eye to the results of this victory. Back then you lost more than 30 million people (more that the entire Soviet Union) in that heinous war on imperialism,” the head of state said.

Wang Jiong informed Alexander Lukashenko about the progress in the implementation of current projects in Belarus and cooperation development prospects. In particular, the sides discussed the construction of the car factory BelGee, modernization of Orsha Linen Mill. “We have successfully completed all the works and got positive reviews from Belarusian partners,” the Chinese businessman remarked. “Such results would have been impossible without the support of the Belarusian government and our partners.”

CITIC Group is ready to expand cooperation with the Belarusian side in new areas, including in finance and agriculture. “We see very big prospects in the further development of business in Belarus,” Wang Jiong told reporters after the meeting with the Belarusian president.
