Lukashenko meets with Belarus' interior minister to receive his report

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko received Belarus' Interior Minister, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HC Dinamo Minsk Igor Shunevich to hear his report on 24 September, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of state asked about the crime rate in the country. He drew special attention to domestic crimes and those committed in the rural areas. Alexander Lukashenko also asked Igor Shunevich to report on the progress achieved in the fight against economic crimes, including corruption. Migration matters were also discussed. “The Interior Ministry thinks we need to introduce amendments to our laws. If this is so, let us discuss this,” the head of state said.

The president was also interested in the performance of HC Dinamo Minsk. “The team has had its ups and downs during the preseason and at the start of the new KHL season. They played two good games on the road, against Lokomotiv and Severstal, and performed really poorly against Dynamo Moscow. What is going on with the team?” Alexander Lukashenko wondered.

The minister stated that the crime situation in the country is under control though there were some complications. “Once again we had to deal with a hostage taking situation. In another emergency one policeman was killed and another got injured. The biggest achievement in the recent work has been the reduction of the number of crime victims (down 3%) and the number of fatal casualties (down almost 4%),” Igor Shunevich said.
